Car Won't Start

Recommended Posts

dan_cole69

Hi, I have recently put a 1.9 CTI engine in my 205 CJ. I now have the car turning over but it wont fire. There is no spark in the sparkplugs but the distrubuter (sorry cant spell to save my life) is spinning.

somebody has told me that I need my ECU unlocking but I didn't think that I would need to.

Can anyone help im so close to the end!

cheers dan

205 GTI/CTi ECUs are not locked and don't have an inbuilt immobiliser. The ECU's are also fuel only, except on the Motronic CAT engine models.

If there's no spark, then either the ignition amp/coil is duff, there's no power to them, or there's no timing signal coming from the dizzy (the 3 pin plug coming off it)

Thanks for the reply

Well the engine came out of a CTI, which i believe was a new engine which would possibly have a CAT on it. how do I know wether it is motronic or not will it say?

cheers dan

I have a spare ecu for that engine. If you're about this weekend, i'll bring it over and take a look at it for you.
