Emissions And Lambda Sensors

Recommended Posts

gti-si

I've got symptoms that suggest a Lambda fault, lack of power on occasion, seems to have moments of engine shakes and all this seems to happen when warm. Now I know there's plenty other options at this point, but it seems to be running quite rich also.

Now the car's just flew through it's emissions, so would that rule out the Lmabda? Logic says so...but you never know, or should I say, I don't

Usually if the lambda is faulty the emissions are sky-high - last car I had with a lambda fault was something like 9% CO!

Remember that the lambda only works at idle and cruise - if the fault is present under WOT, it won't be the lambda.

depends if it flew emissions tests for 8 valver jetronic or a cat test, what were the actual results given?

I forgot to ask for the ticket in my haste!

It was only put on the 8v Jetronic test. There seems to be no problem under WOT, well perhaps a little power loss but that could be unrelated

Engine swaps are tested according to whichever is oldest, car or engine. So it should have had the 1986-92 pre-cat test.
