Mi16 With Vw Golf 16v Trottle Body

Recommended Posts

My Mi16 throttle body was pretty worn so i fitted a VW Golf 16v one. Other than changing the two outer TPS wires over and attacking the I/L manifold with the die grinder it was pretty easy. Only thing is the oval shaped inlet to the TB (goes to AFM) is a fair bit smaller than the Mi one, despite the larger venturi's. It drives better at low revs but I don't think it's getting full throttle yet. Does anyone know if the inlet (which is a separate bolt on part to the TB itself -unlike the Mi one) comes in different sizes for the golf?

While the revs are fairly regular it runs a little rough, but this could be down to only having two bolts in just now (needs 2 x M8 x 60 capheads) and a possible leak, also the inlet hose is very difficult to seal around the inlet due to size difference,

Any help appreciated

Phil

I fitted some more bolts last night and definately better tickover and driveability. So dfoes anyone know which TB I should use? I read the guide on the main site and it said the inlet hose is a tight fit, this isn't, it's like my size 9 in a size 12 shoe!

thats strange. my AFM to TB inlet hose was a very tight fit. completely the wrong shape so have had to bodge it on. gives a very slight air leak aswell

i think mines a 2.8 vag TB though as far as i can remember.
