Hi,

I´ve got a leak.

Suspect it is the big round crankshaft seal(the one in the gearbox end of the engine).

How can I change it easilist?

Take off the gearbox and probe it out and fit a new one or do I have to open the bottom of the engine?

Thanks

/Martin

Its gearbox, clutch & flywheel off I'm afraid. When you take the box off, have a look at the input shaft seal and you should be able to see if the leak is coming from there. Worth checking that before you go removing the flywheel.

it might also be the hockey stick seals, worth changing them whilst your there, as they are 50 p each.

Thanks guys.

I´m that familiar with the english words...Sorry.

What is the input shaft seal?

Just overhauled the engine and I did not change the "Hockey" seals....might be worth a check!

Filled the gearbox too muce wich resulted in oil comming out of the driveshaft seal...but that has stopped now!

Thanks

/Martin

How do you tell if it's Hockey Sticks or Crank Seal? Is it a case of remove gearbox and flywheel and see?

indeed, they are next to each other so difficult to tell until you have the flywheel off.

I've resealed my sump and think I've sorted my leak from it, but when ran I get 2 or 3 drips of black engine oil from the lowest corner of the block, I guess it's going to be one of the two.

Crankshaft doesn't look too bad, but the hockey stick ones scare me!
