Mot Rules Regarding Fuel Lines

Recommended Posts

Paul_13

I have run the fuel lines on the inside of my car, now is there any thing I should have done to get it through an MOT?

Clips etc?

The lines are currently loose at the minute but was going to tape down before MOT and carpet laid over the top.

Thanks

Paul

I'd guess that they have to be secure, but the tester isn't about to pull up carpets to see them.

I wouldn't leave them loose personally, at least P clip them down. If they are going under carpet, have they been routed where they won't get accidently trod on? Used grommets on the bulkheads (or bulkhead connections?).

What pipe have you used to route them through the car?

they need to be secure and leak free according to this: http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_720.htm

as they're in the test, you'd presumably need to make them accessible for future tests as well?

If they're not visible then they just won't be checked.

My fuel lines are P-clipped down and clearly visible and that passed the MOT. :)

no issues with mine, secure and leak free, but lets be honest what dumbass would have leaking freely moving fuel lines .... :)

Alan_m I've used 8mm hose from start to finish, with a filter before the engine.

My mates just acquired me some clips that stick onto bodywork and you used a ziptie to fasten them down :D

Problem solved hopefully
