Help With Mi Itb Set Up

Recommended Posts

Andy F

Hi everyone,

Im am currently getting together the bits to fit some of colins ITB's to my MI engine.

I Have tried searching around but there are couple of things i havent found the answers to.

1) Fuel pump - Having read alot about people's throttle body set up's on here people stick to the standard pump. I am looking to replace mine, as it still works but the original one i have, has done nearly 180k. Since low mileage gti6 pumps are easier to get than good 205 ones i wondered if these fit in a 205 tank?

2) Fuel filter - again it would seem alot of people use the standard 205 filter, i know miles does a banjo so it can accept a larger hose. Again i wondered if a gti6 one would be of any benefit?

Thanks for any help, appologies if these are dumb questions or have been posted before, i havent been able to find the answers

Id defo do away with the 205 canister filter Andy, if only for the fact it makes getting the cambelt cover off loads easier. The '6 one is much smaller. :(

I've gone with a 106 Gti type push on fit filter which works well and dumps the banjos!!

Not a great pic but you can just about see the Corsa (iirc) filter i have on the inner wing here;

I agree with Baz's suggestion for a new smaller filter. It seems the Corsa filter is very similar (identical?) to the 106 filter I have and many others use. No banjos to p1ss about with then.

My fuel filter shown bottom of shot (on offside inner arch) just like the Bazmeister's:

As for the fuel pump. On my 2.2 16v, I am still running the original 1989 fuel pump, with the standard GTI6 fuel rail and FPR for ~230BHP.

Personally, unless the pump's misbehaving I can't see any reason to change it.

ok excellent, thanks for that.

Just had a look on ebay and corsa ones are only around £8 just need to get bracket to bolt it down.

I take it the connections are big enough to take an 8-10mm fuel hose?

Thanks

Try your local motorfactors, they will probably be cheaper than £8 and you wont have to faff waiting for it to turn up. :)
