Recommended Posts

As the standard 205 gti spoilers are a kind of rubber that i find often degrades and goes brittle i want to revamp mine. Now im gueesing a normal paint will not work so what do you folks reccommend?

Make sure you use plastic primer on it and not their bumper prep.

I've used this on mine and it's started to peel off at the corner, if you use plastic primer you should be fine.

Halfords Flexible Vinyl paint is soooooo 2005 dahling

Get a bottle of Plasticare off eBay instead. A few people on here have used it on their trim ad are very happy. I'm using it now in fact, and it goes on a treat, nice and easy to apply (blob it on a rag and wipe it on, leave to dry for 15 minutes), cover well, and is claimed not to flake as it's a proper dye that seaps in to the plastic.

As above really, I bought a bottle off ebay about 3 months ago and it transformed the bumpers from faded grey to brand new looking in about 30 mins. It really is amazing stuff!

I actually used it on all the black bits on my car- sunroof trim, rear spoiler, mirrors, wiper arms, door handles and badges.

Doubt it unless you find old stock, and prepare to have your rear orifice violated if you want to buy one!

Nice one, bit pricey but if i cannot find a decent second hand one by the time im ready to get one then this

will be fine. Two of the 205 1.9 GTi's i'v bought had ones with rough bits on the top, probably made by sun damage.

Does lightly sanding the rough bitz smooth work well ?

Can you chaps post piccies of your results as i'd be very interested to see what they look like. Yeah your probably right, i should keep my phase 1 as original as possible.

If you do a search on Plasticare (it won't come up with a huge number of results to trawl through) you'll find a topic where soeone has restored some extremely faded grey trim back to it's proper shade of grey. As for the black version, I could post pictures of mine but see no need. Black is black, it's as you'd expect.

Thanks, looks good that mate. I'm still pondering whether or not to buy it, as my trim is quite good after plenty of autoglym snot.

My peugeot dealer found me a brand new rear spoiler last year, which was old stock and I was told it was the last one listed and they let me have it for £80 pound :) I wouldnt relly relie on service box for 205 parts, it may say the parts are there but alot of time the parts are no where to be found.

I was thinking of doing the same to mine. A light sand then try Plasticare all over.

Anyone tried it?

Hi guys, I bought some of this stuff a while back and was one of their first customers. Fro the sake of £10 I thought what the hell.

Did a thread on it...

http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?s...1&hl=bumper

Only thing for me was I used a paint brush and not a rag. I didn't take the panels off and didn't fancy getting dye all over the body work.

I'd be interested to know how others used a rags to apply it and not smear it everywhere.
