Gearbox Dowels

How many dowels are there from the box to to the engine block .

I've tried service box and come up with a blank.

 

I did a road rally a week ago and my box tried to fall off , shearing one of the lower bolts , which in turn manged to shake one out.

 

i have some new bolts with lock wire hole to refit , but think i am missing some dowels.

 

The 4.8 is manic , great fun and revs everywhere

The replacement of the dowels seemed to be OK , Cheers Graham .

 

It lasted for two rallies before teh same thing happened again . The lockwire snapped this time , two of teh fixing into the block have puuled the therads .

 

Has anyone any experience of helicoilng an 8V block ?

 

Any answers appreciated .

I've helicoiled one before, nothing that exciting to tell you really, just obviously needs the gearbox out.

Yes, nothing that difficult, you just need either a short tap or grind the tap down, as there isn't much depth to play with.
