just want someone to answer me a question, can a CPS get broken by dropping it etc? also, how it works and where to find a second hand one or rough cost on a new one?? p.s also,would you say that if a car runs would the CPS be ok? cheers

this is the CAS? crank angle sensor? same thing different name?? if so i dropped mine a couple of times and its still ok. probably best not to though.

I don't think dropping it would do any harm. It's just basically a magnet I think.

 

For a 2nd hand one, go to a scrappy or look on eBay. I've been told that you can use pretty much any CAS from any XU engine, and some of the other engines too. Certainly if you look on the eBay listings they have plenty that look pretty much identical and the specific CAS in the eBay advert is usually listed for a whole load of different cars other the years.

 

I think they are about £30ish new from Pug.

 

The CPS should basically be OK if the car runs. The CPS sends a signal to the ECU telling it that the engine is turning. If the CPS was not working, the ECU would not know the engine is turning, so it would stop injecting and ignition.
