Ignition Light Is Playing Up.....

Just a couple of things, just after start me car, the ignition light just stays on. Give it a big rev and usually goes off, but came back on yesterday, been doing it more frequently.

 

Is this just a case of checking loose wiring and maybe having a look over the alternator?

 

Also, am very slowly rebuilding 1.6 engine. What size are the bolts i need to get to attach it to an engine stand?

Sorry am being very lazy.

Looks like alternator but better to check the wires before having a new alternator.Maybe the belt comes loose

sounds like the alternators on the way out, my rover used to do this but the alternator kept going for another 3000 miles before giving up the ghost completly, just annoyed my parents revving it to 4k every morning to get the alternator going. i think its somthing to do with it needing 'exciting' before it will charge.

Sounds like a tired alternator.
