Clutch Cable Adjustment

Recommended Posts

Quick question, if I want to lower the biting point slightly on my friends Pug 306 xsi do I undo the nuts on the threaded bit or tighten them - obviously I will then lock the other nut against it.

Loosen it (ie make the cable slacker)

That's assuming that the XSi in question doesn't have an auto-adjusting clutch cable....

Cheers Ant.

I've just had a nose and the set up does look different to my gti.

Just checked and the peddle is so so heavy and you can hear a creak in the box area when the peddle is pressed.

Is that likely to be a problem with the release arm/bushes in the box itself?

nail + head! they certainly wont help.

cables are a fairly common item to wear out on these though, and they're put under more strain by the stiff bushes and their proximity to the exhaust.

I'm also thinking could the spring on the clutch plate brake and cause this issue?

Stiff clutch is normally the cross shaft rusting up in the lower bush, Cables rarely make the clutch stiff
