Pob 1 Posted July 14, 2009 My 205 has been sitting for about 8-10 months and the brakes aren't great. There is surface rust over the discs as can be expected... I've not been able to go far to clear them, do you think they will sort themselves out? The car doesn't have any MOT so the only chance I'll get is to the MOT station Dan
Paul_13 212 1 Cars Posted July 14, 2009 I'd go the long route to the MOT station, drive with your left foot on the brake for a bit and handbrake slightly on. Always worked for me, in moderation of course! I doubt it will pass the brake effort test otherwise
Anthony 1,002 Posted July 14, 2009 Check that the caliper sliders still move freely, and assuming they do, it should be fine - use the brakes more than normal on the way to the MOT, including dragging them for a while, and a couple of hardish stops, and it should clean up the disks and pass the MOT. The braking performance needed to pass is suprisingly low anyway.
