Mi16/gti Dizzy.

Hi folks,

I bought my 205 mi16 cheap off a mate after the engine suffered the inevitable..

ive since stripped it down and rebuilt the engine. its now back and im busy trying to sort wiring out after losing half the labels that were on them.

1. there are a couple of extra wires that im not sure where they go. there down the back cable tied to the sump temp sensor wiring but theres nothing else down there.

2. Im thinking of going down the bike carbs route, what is the best way to do this? also how do i know which dizzy is on the car, are there any markings etc?

3. If i fit Carbs, does the Sad need to be connected, after looking at the wiring diagrams it looks like its kinda needed (this might just be my lack of knowledge on how the carbs work and replace the standard inj. though)

Any help would be much aprecciated.

Ryan.

hi mate, the extra wires maybe if you have a mi16 wiring loom fitted. If so they could be for a oil level sensor

which the 405's have but not 205's.When fitting carbs you dont need the SAD or any of the wiring for injectors, airflow, throttle sensor etc.I use twin 45's and am still using a dizzy, although people recommend

using mappable ignition to get the best but iam unsure of what wires are needed to use that setup.I would imagine

you either have the mi16 loom in which case you wont have a dizzy at moment or its using the 8v wiring and then you would have a dizzy probably a 1.9 8v like me.

Hey mate,

it was all wired up and running on standard injection before i got it. There is a dizzy fitted. i suspect its been wired in as some of the wiring around the relay box near the front n/s headlight looks a bit dubious.

Thanks tho thats cleared up some of my confusions anyway.
