Mi16 Xu9j4 Main Bearings

Quick question, i went to get my bearings for the car, i got XUD bearings for main and big ends, the mains were wrong because the lugs where the wrong end!! and if you turned them round so the lugs fitted, the oil hole would be blocked, so basically, when replacing th MAINS do they have to be Mi16/XU9J4 ones or can i use something different like the XU9TE bearings like people do for the big ends to pro-long the life in case of problems etc.
