Idle Adjustment.

I'm putting an bosch pwm idle valve into my install currently, but don't really want to run a 22mm (size of the idle valve in / out let) hose across the engine bay, and would like to run something smaller.

 

My thought is that the idle screw adjustment provided more than enough variation for controlling the scope of cold and warm idle, and this screw cant open up too large a throttle by-pass, so a 22mm hose is overkill or am I missing something? The idle valve its self opens up much less than 18mm ID of the valve outlet, so how small can I go with the connection hose? I was thinking of using ½” to ¼” hose….

 

Does the face the engine is supercharged have a bearing on this, as I expect it does to some degree.
