Twin Tail Exhaust?

Recommended Posts

engine killer

I was offered a twin/split tail exhaust rear box (from Subaru STi EXO X). Want to keep the original look or at least not too high profile. Has anyone got any picture of a twin/split tail exhaust (one left one right)?

Mine is a big bore 2.0 Mi with TBs and fast road cam, currently running a mid and rear box from an Audi RS6 (only using it's one mid and rear box from its twin setup) but it is still quite loud. Want to make it quieter since loud exhaust note attracts a lot of police's attention here which is not what I want ;) . Do you guys think this STi box will really make the system quieter?

Thanks.

Main question though is why? I guess its more a cosmetic look than anything else but no idea if it'll be any quieter or not than a standard exhaust.

The back of a 205 really doesn't suit a twin pipe set up imo. (or that bodykit tbh)

Just makes it look like a chav mobile.

If done subtly and set into the valance, rather than just hanging down willy nilly then i think it could look good with a pair of 2.5"/3" rolled pipes.

I've just binned my old Magnex system and gone for a centre and rear OE system. Oh the joy of the stealth look

it really is ..... just no comment :)

Tried my old Magnex 8v pipe and then a custom made big bore (which is about half an inch larger) and the performance difference is very significant, so I guess the original one will not be a good alternative.

I was thinking the original STi is a quiet unit even in a STi, and my current one is quite loud. So I may route the near side pipe to the left and make it a one side twin tail pipe.

On your STi the turbo will make quiet a difference in the noise the exhaust makes, they effectively work as another silencer.

Yep, and turbo exhaust tend to be larger diameter to aid with exhaust gas expulsion.

The larger diameter on an N/A engine can make them very loud indeed.

And do nothing for back pressure.
