Xu10 Sump Bolts To Use

Recommended Posts

kyepan

Hi there,

Recently i purchased an xu10 sump, pump etc. It came through just fine but when trying to fit it to the xu9 with spacer, the bolts provided (iirc) wern't long enough.

Now the xu9 bolts were too long and i had to pack them out with washers.....

needless to say the seal is very poor and it's leaking profusly.

What bolts should i be using?

cheers

Justin.

what xu10 sump is it? i just took the the gti 6 sump off mine and fitted the s16 one i had lying around, i used the s16 bolts which were shorter than the gti 6 ones. Stupid m7 bolts too so its not like you could just use bolts that you have lying around.

VW now uses M7 x 1.0 bolts in all of there engine line up

So you can get an M7 x 25mm all the way to M7 x 80mm if you need be.

Should be good to go.

The reason they switched over to M7 is for people like us that need replacements cant get them from the local hardware store.
