Running New Big Ends In

Hi there guys.I have just put new big end bearings in my mi16 as my crank bolt slackened of luckily crank is fine,

just curious to how many miles u reckon before i can get it on rollers.iam trying to keep it under 3000rpm for the moment

then change the oil after 200.

most people will tell you you should them run in but in my oppinion thats useless.

these bearings work by an oilfilm between them and the crankshaft. so if anything would run it, the bearings would be defect after only some miles.

 

for your peace, you can drive a bit slower the first 300-400km, maybe unter 4500rpm. this for sure is no mistake, but running in slidebearings is an urban legend, there simply is nothing that could run in ;-)

agreed. Running in if for rings to bed in, and fresh rubber seals and gaskets to swell and settle. Bearing should not touch, if they do you have an issue
