Recommended Posts

right just to clear this up please!!! can i use 1.9 8v crank in my mi16, mi rods and mi pistons, and this will all bolt in ok, run ok without any "machining" to anything!!

Also on the same subject i have a set of good rods (mi) i got from here because the rod that had spun the shell was black from the heat and i think it was oval'd, i just want to know if i should put the set of rods in i got or jus one of the rods and use my 3 that were with the engine??

P.s with regard to the mains and the big ends, do i need mi16 ones (i guess!!) or 8v ones!! cheers

you can use any combination of this without problems.

the bearings are the same, but i prefer xud9te bearings for the conrod, they are just better and more durable.

the 8v crank will rev a bit better, with the loss of some nm in lower rpms and a bit more rough engine run. but anyway, absolutely no problem!

what to do with the conrods is up to you. personally i would lighten and polish the 4 together and match their weight, then use them.

but when the other 3 are ok, there is no need to change.

its really important to clean all the oil channels and everything, because a broken bearing will first destroy the oil filter and eventually let the overpressure-valve open, then you have the small particles nearly everywhere in the engine, a complete clean and flush is absolutely necessary!

I wouldn't go lightening your conrods unless you knew exactly what you were doing!
