Compression Test Results

Thought it would be an good idea for people who have done a compression test to list their results in one topic,

to give some idea on what pressures we should expect from our aging bangers.

 

Here's my F plate 1.6 CTi before striping it down.

 

110,000 miles

 

190, 163, 183, 183. PSI.

 

Not bad, but I think it will be worthwhile replacing the rings.

Only the second one is a little low IMO. This maybe down to the gasket and not the rings. Why replace something that has got nothing wrong with it? Sorry no results to add.

I did the oil down the bore test on that cylinder and got over 300PSi

I'm doing a full restoration on the car.

I would have thought that you should do this to all the chambers as if it raises them all by the same amount then you could rule out the rings. However I am certainly no expert on this matter.
