Gti-6 Into 205 Radiator Hoses

Recommended Posts

Team BDR

A lot of our radiator hoses or our gti-6 engineed gti are looking tired so I was wondering if there is a kit specifically for this engine car combo like there is for the MI16? Could an mi16 kit fit our application?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Peugeot-205-Mi16-Sil...emZ220343211831

Also one of the pipes coming from the oil cooler has a kink that appears to restrict flow but im not sure whether I'd need a 306 or 205 replacement? Also will a silicon hose be more resistant to kinking?

Finally any ideas where I can source a bottom steel water pipe other than peugeot?

Thanks in advance,

Rob

can't comment on which hoses to use for the gti6 engine, but the metal water pipe is best sourced from peugeot.

I think the GTI-6 differs in no way from any other engine swap, try to keep the cooling system pipework as close as it was originally rather than using custom hoses etc. The kit you link to above on ebay is from Stew-205, he is on the forum & offers a 10% forum discount through his company www.BakerBM. More details in the list of discounters in the group buys section on here.

For the top hose he also makes an adaptor to use the 8v thermostat cap.

You can get the metal pipe from GSF but there isn't much price difference compared to buying it from Peugeot iirc.

Graham.

Thanks for the info guys. The car was converted by pug1off before our ownership and is our first and only 205 so we cannot tell which parts are sourced from the 205 or 306 which is making finding replacements difficult. We've sent an email to pug1off to try to clarify which parts are which but in the mean time can anyone advise? We would be happy replacing for oem if the prices are reasonable. After a quick search on GSF and ECP it would appear they dont sell hoses for either car leaving our only options of buying used from a breakers or getting fleeced at pug?

gsf sell the metal pipes under part number T17960 for £12.35, as shown on their website, Peugeot sell them for about the same.

most of the coolant pipes Peugeot still stock, generally they are very cheap, bottom hose from metal pipe to rear of block for example is less than £6 + vat.

you really need to check the prices of stuff before you think Peugeot are out to fleece you, and to give places a call rather than relying on them bothering to updare part numbers for a car that went out of production some 15 years ago on their websites....

Hi Welshpug, We dont have a GSF or ECP local so have decided to order from Peugeot anyway. I've had a few bad experiances with parts departments in general in the past and they dont generally entertain engine conversions (understandably I suppose). I guess i'll have to dig the parts CD out and study the diagrams to find out what hoses belong to which car then make a note of the part numbers.

On a side I believe the top radiator hose for my 106 rallye has been discontinued as BakerBM were looking into manufacturing replacements as there are/were no other sources. With the 106 being a newer car I just assumed thats 205 hoses would be limited too and also guessed that other people would have replaced/upgraded hoses on theyre engine conversions/cars.

Like many people I work in an office during office hours and cannot make personal phone calls. Is it really too much to expect for a national parts supplier to have an up to date website? Anyway I digress..

If you don't know about it, there is a website called Service box on which you can browse all the Peugeot parts screens, the same ones as the dealers use. This may help you in identifying what you need.

The kit off ebay or seperate hoses directly from BakerBM will probably work out cheaper & last far longer than the hoses from Peugeot.

What phase 106 Rallye, 1 or 2?

Graham.

Looks like we will have to mix and match then but either way we need to sort it before 9th July as thats the next trackday.

The rallye is an s1. I've not had trouble sourcing one personally just read about the difficulties on 106RR

Hi,

If the conversion was done by Pug-1-Off then these are more than likely the hoses you will need:

Lower Exp.

Top Exp - Rad

Top H/M

Mi16 Lower H/M Needs cutting to length to suit the back of the Gti6 Thermostat housing

Lower Engine

Lower Rad

You may already have one of my ali. adaptors? They do make life easier but there are other options.

Top Rad hose

The Top Rad - Thermostat hose I sell is from the 8v kit, but it is not an ideal fit. I am trying to develop a 205Gti6 Top hose but I don't have access to one to measure up. Maybe there is somebody local to the Midlands who would like to help? :)

It sounds as though you are still running the heat exchanger? If you plan to keep the heat exchanger in the system then it does become a little more difficult/expensive. Switching to air/oil cooler would be a good solution if the car is used on track.

I am just having the S1 106 Top radiator hoses (with H/E take offs) finished off. I am hoping to have them ready for Pugfest. I already have all the other hoses throughout the 106 range finished inc the 16v Top hose (with and without take offs).

The information above should hopefully get you started in your quest for hoses! If you would prices for any of the above just send me a PM.

All the best

Stew
