you'll need to check your clearances and measure the sizes currently fitted to see what you need to replace them with.

Ok welshpug, thanks again.

I think i will get someone to check that for me,

When i know the settings and sizes, can anyone tell me the best place to get the bits?

Oh and also all the bits i will need?

Thanks.

Good thread here - doesn't give you all the answers but will give you a couple of pointers.

Cheers pally,

Would i be best getting a rebuilt standard head off someone on here?

Then when i take it to be done it will be just the case of changing heads.

What do you all think?

bit OTT really, what was whoever's reasoning for saying the shims needed changing?

A certain young man off this forum.

He knows alot about engines and 205s.

He has rebuilt many.

Shes a bit tappy, not that bad but just a little.

Im a very proud owner of her and want whats best for her.

I'd change the oil and make sure its not just noisy injectors or a leaking exhaust manifold first.

then if that still doesn't quieten it down a little I'd whip the cam cover off and check the clearances and the condition of the camshaft.

bear in mind that they're never the quietest of engines in the world!

Just whipped off the cover,

The camshaft looks mint,

No scores or problems there.

Id bet like you say welshpug the injectors?

I know for a fact i have just had a full service and the manifolds not blowing.

Adjusting the shims won't always reduce the tapety noise, chances are the exhaust valve guides are worn. (inlet ones usually last a bit longer)

The brass guides aren't expensive, but you'll have to pay someone to change them for you.
