Mi16 High Idle

hello,

 

just finished putting the engine in the car, hadnt touched it for a week.

 

i turned it over for the first time, and it fired straight away, i have to say im totally shocked with this result. however it started to tick over at 3k, after a minute it dropped down to 2k. i turned it off before i left it run at this for too long. is there any reason why it will idle so high?

first thing i'd do is check the idle control valve.

Check the throttle position switch. If the switch isn't closing with the throttle shut then the ECU doesn't know it's supposed to be controlling the idle speed and just leaves the idle valve fully open.

If the engine has been out it could be a long list of things.

 

Confident all the breather pipes are correct? Wiring correct?

 

Easy thing to do on an install is miss a vac pipe etc causing and air leak and high idle
