Just wondering , on the black power box thats bolted to the front slam panel, should all the connections have a plug in.

Reason i ask is that ive just finihsed my gti6 convsion and it all runs etc however the fan didnt switch on. Its all plugged in etc however i seen to have a free space in this shunt box and there isnt any plug lying around to go into it.

Hey mate,

I finished my Mi16 conversion, and i have some free spaces in my box. Infact, i opened the shunt box up and some of the connectors didnt have a 12v feed to them.

The fan switch has its own loom. Mine wasnt working either, and i disconnected all connectors and cleaned them up and reconnected, and it worked fine.

Just get a multimeter and work your way starting from the shunt box and you'll find where you're losing the 12v

ok mate cheers, i removed the plug from the fan switch (blue plug) planning on sticking a peice of wire in to test the fan, however i then realised there were 3 pins to the plug , out of of the 3 pins around 5 wires.. any idea which pins to short to test the fans working.

I cant remember off the top of my head and i cant get to my car till thursday, but what i do is get a wire a stick it on any end of the plug, and just short it with either one of the other two. One is for the slow speed, the other for the fast. If you connect the wrong ones nothing will happen, so just go to the other end and try again..

In the fan loom you have got a test plug,it has 3 wires going to it . If you short/link from the middle wire to one of the others the fan should come on,

one way will give you slow speed the other fast. If this all works it has to be the rad switch. If it only comes on fast its the resistor. If nothing happens have a look at the fan itself.
