Urgent Query Re Fitting Outer Driveshaft Boot

Recommended Posts

Dave_McC

Just opened up the box of bits from Peugeot and I've got the following:

- rubber boot

- 2 large plastic rings - go on outside of rubber boot

- 2 wire tie clips - for securing 2 ends of boot to driveshaft / hub end respectively

- 1 small plastic "sleeve" - presume this goes around the dirveshaft and the boot then secures around outside of this sleeve

- 1 wire inside circlip - looks a bit like the circlips used to secure gudgeon pin in piston in some engines - where does this go????

Trying to assemble driveshaft tonight so can anyone help me?

Cheers

Dave

sounds like a kit for a 1.9.

the white nylon sleeve sits under the boot's narrow end,

the small wire clip is for the end for the driveshaft to keep the CV joint on as you should replace them every time you remove the CV joint from the shaft ^_^

Cheers for quick reply. The only point I've split the shaft is at the inner end - where I've driven the spider (with the 3 rollers) off the end of the shaft (and there wasn't a circlip fitted). The boot kit with the circlip is the outer boot - and I've not split the outer end of the shaft.

Can I ignore this circlip then?

if you're not taking the outer joint off to make it easier then yeah you can ignore it.

Just got back inside having fitted the new boots and got the driveshaft back on car and all ready to go. Just gonna grab something to eat and then quick test drive.

Thanks for the help

Dave
