Just Taken These Off

After whinging on here about my steering not being all that it should be I started to take my little pug apart. The shocks don't appear to bad tbh but I wouldn't mind changing them. I'd like to keep the standard ride height as well. Anyway on stripping the front suspension the top mounts were fubar. Everything else seems to be in reasonable condition, bar a bit of surface rust. So it's off to the powder coaters with all the bits.. Should I have these done in satin black, like standard. I fancy having it all done in silver..what do you reckon? also any suggestions for the shocks I've asked Miles about Bilstein OE replacements but is there any others to consider?

Try some new GTi6 shocks. Heard lot's of good things about these, seems a nice cheap upgrade. Read up on spring's though as I think they may rise the ride height using the standard springs.

I had all my running gear done in gloss black, look's the bee's

Good luck

Cheers gti-si! I'll have a nosey at those. I was going for the bilstein oe gas not oil hoping they would offer a little more refinement being gas. I'm quite tempted with black as well but I did fancy something a little different I thought silver would stand out a little for when I roll it!!

I'm looking forward to it too Dale! going to get the legs built up over the weekend and then hopefully that vagueness will have gone.

Also got new top mounts and rubbers to fit original bilstein items, as the original bearings were absolutley knackered. can't wait!!

Black will look great with the Miami paint

Just thought black on a black car would not stand out, hence the silver <_<

Re-shelling all my bits into a white 309 now, would look better black now!!!!!!!But not going to the expense and trouble of stripping it all again :)

Rear beam looked ok silver too

Pretty sure I paid £70 for front subframe, front ARB and brackets, top mounts off struts, and a few small brackets off bulkhead and a couple of heat shields :D

That was shot blast and powder coat

I paid £60 for mine which included subframe, springs, strut brace, anti roll bar and top mounts.

Nearly there now ;) thanks to gti-si who came up trumps with a couple of parts for the subframe. Top bloke!

A few pics below, but not as posh as coskevs..

I know the pics aren't much cop but its's the best I could do at the time  ignore the paw prints on everything, I went bonkers with the copper slip!!

Just need to fit the lower engine mount yoke, fit wheels and torque up the wishbones when puggy's back on his wheels
