Strut Problem

Hi, The top of my struts on my 309 make a creaking noise when i turn.

 

 

When i look at the top of the strut from the bonnet, the tophat peice is raised up and turns when i turn the wheels. this doesnt seem right?

 

Is it the strut that knackerd or the top mount? or both?

 

Would 306 s16 struts fit the car, would they be better than standard struts?

sounds like knackered strut top bearings if its clunking and croaning, you'll more than likely need new rubber donut as well if the top is turning.

 

2 ways to go about it, either fit firmer rubber ones from the likes or Baker BM and bearings on their own from GSF at £9 each, or just a complete bearign adn donut kit from GSF for £20 ish.

 

 

nothing wrong with the damper there I would imagine, though you can check its condition while you're sorting the top mountings.

 

306 damper will fit, but only with the 205 top mount assembly.

looking at the exploded diagram in the haynes, i cant see where the bearing is located?

 

am i after somthing similar to this?

exactly that yes, you can get those from gsf for about the same total price.

 

 

OR, as mentioned you could buy the bearings separate (ask for Citroen Berlingo ones...) and fit uprated rubber donuts.

Could also be a droplink, temporarily disconnect it and see if the noise stops.

I took the track rod ends and the droplinks and they were in good condition except for the rubbers on the droplinks?

 

can i buy these separately?

from your picture, it looks like it has a missing nut, or actually the stud of the top plate has gone (the top right hole there).
