Setting Cam Timing For Gti6 Supercharged Engine

Recommended Posts

Hi

I'd appreciate some advice as to what to set the cam timing to on my GTI6 engine that i've rebuilt for my supercharger project. I picked up the new cam belt today so i'm pretty much ready to go once i've made an extension for my dial gauge so that it can reach down the spark plug hole.

I'll be using the standard GTI6 cams and pulley but as the pulleys are verniers it means i can adjust them some what.

The engine is going to be blown by an Eaton M62 Supercharger so i imagine i'm going to want to reduce the overlap between the inlet and exhaust cams so as not to push all that boosted air straight out the chamber, but i have no idea as to what sort of figures/measurements i should be aiming for

any help much appreciated

Advance the exhaust to 0.00mm lift at TDC. This reduces the overlap.

also for the inlet cam you metioned in a PM about setting the lift at TDC to 1mm , someone posted over on the 306 forum that Lift @ TDC 0.047" = 1.19mm.

Is just the case of trying to get as much lift at TDC as possible without the valves/pistons hitting each other?
