Driveshaft Gaitor

I've just purchased a brand new gaitor kit for the outer CV joint from peugeot (£37!!!) upon opening the box to check the contents the straps look like a metal zip tie without the ratchet mechanism.

 

Ignoring my stupidity how do these things tighten up and lock off?

 

 

Note: I tried doing a search but the only driveshaft queries are about how to fit the boot or which driveshaft will fit etc etc...

I'd seriously think about returning it and buying a aftermarket one, and save yourself about £30?

If it's what I think it is regarding the clip, they're crimp on never come off design.

The metal ones use a special tool to tighten, although can be done without, pliers etc.

 

I'd also do what Tom says and use a DIY retaining strap, or just cable ties!
