Hi i having a bit of a problem with me pug its an 8v 1.9 and shes having trouble starting some times, shes had a new starter motor and coil and ingition barrel and still the problem is there, you can turn the key and some times she starts up just fine then other times you just have to sit there turning the key will she starts, some ones telling me it could be a bad engine earth but im just not sure what to do

When you turn the key does the starter engage, or just "click"?

As you've said you've changed the starter, id look at the earth.

Mine has started refusing to start occasionally when it's warm. The starter will just spin over and over, then eventually it will start but with a very low idle. I believe the ignition amp is on it's way out.

One of the first "mods" I do to a 205... 1X piggy back spade terminal, 1Xlength of wire routed through engine bay to ignition switch. One end of the wire to the starter solenoid (using a piggy-back means you retain all standard wiring) the other goes straight toi the starter wire from the ignition switch - sorted!

Even if your puig doesn't have this problem, chances are it will one day, probably at the least convenient time

What happens if you have an alarm.

Sounds like what i had to do, replace the whole starter wiring, from key ignition to the starter.

They seem to go on 205 GTi's when they are getting on a bit.
