Gti-6 Baffled Sump On Mi16

Recommended Posts

tombo

Just wondering if anyone has done this, i have in my possesion a gti6 baffled sump, however i have just taken the mi sump off and they seem a little different. everything lines up ok however the Gti-6 Sump seems to be deeper than the mi16 sump.

has anyone used this sump on an Mi16 before and if so, has everything been fine after?

thanks

tom

Or you can extend the oil pick up.

If you read the link PeterT posted you will have seen this post:

"Yes, you can fit the GTi6 sump instead of the Mi16 sump and spacer plate. This means you'll loose the stiffening factor provided by the spacer plate. The best idea is to fit both the spacer plate and the GTi6 sump, along with something like one of my pump extensions. See here: http://www.taylor-eng.com/sump/wetsump.htm"

So best bet is to order a extended picked and get it welded onto your existing pickup.

i did read that, what i was concerned with is the fact that it seemed to me that he were trying to sell his product, hence making that option seem a little better route. i just wanted to know if others on here have done this?

thanks tom

I actually try to avoid pushing my own bits on forums, thus I worded it; "along with something like .................".

There are several alternatives. The search button is your friend.
