Strange Oil Leak Help

Recommended Posts

gav_mi16

Anybody had any similar oil leaks before? There doesn't seem to be an obvious point, nothing coming out of oil breather or rocker cover bolts, but it is pooling at the front and you can see oil marks on the cambelt side. Any ideas

The jubilee looks a tad loose round the hose going into the rocker cover (3rd pic down, or it could be my dodgy eyes).

But can't see why the oil would go all the way to the other side of the cover.

I had an oil leak but I never fathomed what it was, used to flick up from the aux belt all over the bonnet and engine Night have been the crank seal come to think about it...

Try to seal the surface in between the bolts and the cover base , undo all the bolts (but not completely ..) clean up/de-grease the area under the bolt heads and cover base then smear some RTV sealant in between (under the bolt heads) and tight them back ..

Also remove the top timing belt cover and check if theres oil around cam pulleys (or worse , on the timing belt) as i could be leaky camshaft seal perhaps

I had this on an Mi cam cover, right in the middle. I reckon the magnesium goes porous.

You're eyes aren't dodgy, the clip is loose, but it's not leaking from there. I took the cover off a little while ago and cleaned it all up and put it back on with a new seal, so I don't think it's leaking from the bolts, the cambelt it bone dry, but there are oil marks on the side of the block and head, difficult to see from where the leak is, but it's not a lot, nothing like the pools on the cam cover, so it's must be a cracked/pourus cover!

Get some crack detection spray from your local welding shop. You will have to clean the paint of first  .
