Recommended Posts

Hey guys is there a crank, rods and cylinder set that Peugeot made that will fit in the XU9JAZ (1.9 GTI 8v motor) that will give it more cubes?

thanks matt.

so does the 2 litre 8 valve motor from the 306 range just bolt straight into the existing engine mounts or is a big hassle required like fitting a Mi16?

I think if you use the entire motor (importantly the head) you will the 306 engine mount, if you just use the block with the GTI head you can use the GTI mount. The GTI head has better flow but 1mm smaller inlet valve. Lots of info on these heads XU10 and XU9.

No real advantage to putting an XU10 in its no more powerful than XU9 1.9 but weighs a chunk more. The thing to do would be use XU10 block and pistons with XU9 1.9 head and 88mm crank. Then you get 2044cc and 11+CR, but again more weight.

Ahhh? Thats not true. Flowtests show that the XU10 head is far better flowing inlet-wise and the same as the GTI head exhaust-wise.

In my opinion its the other way around. Use the XU10 head. Why put the lesser flowing XU9 head on the XU10 block?!

Ive just completed my Xu10 head onto XU9 bottom end conversion, and ill be taking it to a rolling road soon to get some figures. Full specs will also be available by then.

Well i am counting on about 150-160 bhp. Specs is: rebuilt XU10 head, slight porting at both inlet and exhaust valve throat area, resized ports to fit the xu9 dcoe manifold, 40mm webers, high lift PT27 cam, pulley advanced by 3 degrees, 1.8mm skim, straight through 2" exhaust with only the backbox fitted. Ill post some pictures and open a thread when i get it rolled.
