Rimmed Washer On Exhaust Manifold

Recommended Posts

chocolate_o_brian

Right, some may know I've had an awful blowing on my exhaust system for a bit. This was down to the downpipe having the wrong bend in it, so the gasket joint between it and the standard manifold was blowing like Pamela Anderson on a Yacht :o

So, today I took it to a local exhaust place with my new downpipe sourced off here. All went well, the old one was thrown and new one fitted with the necessary extension piece fitted (due to old wrong d/pipe being longer). It was fitted up with a fitting kit off Ebay, which comprised of the rimmed washers which slot into the manifold sides. The issue I have is one of these buggers has given way on the way home, literally just broken away on the rimmed part, and I have my famous blowing back now as the springed part with the bolt through it isn't attached to anything (obviously as the washer stops it falling through the hole in the manifold flange).

Erm, where can I get just one of these rimmed washers from? I've looked on Servicebox and can only get the part number for a whole kit - I haven't the ££ or need for a full kit.

I can try take a piccy and draw something up on Microsoft paint if you guys don't follow.

Cheers

Andy

EDIT:

Found this as a guide on Ebay... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PEUGEOT-205-306-84-2...93%3A1|294%3A50

That was the kit I bought and it failed miserably. The bit I need is next to the gasket on the upper right hand side...

Any chance of sticking the washer etc in the post? I haven't much petrol and I'm a little skint, so would be better for me to give you a few quid then spend £20 in the tank LOL :D

I'm trying to find a piccy, but Ebay won't let you save theirs any longer :o

It's about 45 miles round trip (I live in Sc*nthorpe). Did you want much for the bits? Literally only need one piece (I think LOL).

PM us if you like mate, much appreciated :o

One thing I've learned from experience is that the genuine Pug fitting kits are worth paying a little extra for. All the cheap kits I've tried over the years have had something wrong with them - either bolts that snap before they're fully tensioned, springs too long/short, even cardboard gaskets in some of the crappier ones.

Agreed, not worth saving 3 quid IMO (no ebay links in this section- 250407453545)

Stay well clear of them Gaskets mate buy the pug ones.. I bought a set back last year and it would not fit

plus the quality is awfull. There was a thread on here a while back about these actual kits and numerous

forum members had trouble with them. Chocolate_o_brian is the only person ive known to manage to get the

damn gasket to even fit,I certainly wouldnt recommend them to anyone..

The seller in question did my kit and I've had 2 break on me (the washers).

I'd like to say a big thanks to Tom Fenton, who's just driven out of his way to meet me and supply to proper Peugeot ones for nothing. True community spirit, and it is much appreciated.

Eventually I'll go with a full new kit but while times are hard, this shoudl do the trick nicely.

Thanks again, and to the others - appreciate the help as always! :):D

No worries mate, all sorted now. Got the bugger on yesterday and the exhaust is only blowing a liiiittle bit now, possibly due to the gasket itself being buggered from the funny angled downpipe.

But it's loads better than it was and when monies better I'll get a decent backbox chopped on (love Toms).

Oh, by they way, I got that manifold-sad hose on and it's made a big difference re-routing the sad in that "hole" we found, even without a the bracket. Just used a cable tie and the car runs a bit better now. Probably just needs setting up by experienced ears if you follow re. the ign. adv.

Just filled up and got 295 miles to 41.5 litres - 32 mpg :):angry::blink::blink::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
