Possible Cracked Manifold?

Recommended Posts

joelpsmith

I replaced the dipstick tube on my car, obviously having to remove the exhaust manifold, I refitted it with the same gaskets and it developed a slight ticking noise. I assumed it was the old gaskets that were the cause and have since replaced them with brand new peugeot items. Unfortunatly the ticking got a lot worse immediately after fitting the new gaskets.

I have had a look for cracks in the manifold but can't see anything, are they always visible? or is it possible to have a crack that can't be seen?

Yep, been under there with a torch, had a good look from every angle and can't see anything out of the ordinary.

I expect the face needs machining, most have eaten away at the edges now and a re-face works wonders
