Nos On Bike Carbs

Recommended Posts

Guest V8ish

in the quest for more power I am debating NOS for my track car for a bit of fun, how does the poor little XU lump stand up?

I assume I would need to feed all 4 inlets at the same rate, I'd imagine it would be straight forward for injection as the jet would mount my the afm so an even flow. Maybe 4 pipes mounted in the the filter????

cheers

Have a look at my project thread mate, I have done exactly that, direct port nitrous on bike carbs.

You would need a wet direct port kit mounted in the inlet manifold behind the carbs, so yes it is very doable but it's a bit of a pain in the arse

HMmmm this seems interesting. would the standard pistons cope with the sudden increase in extra power, also what would be the most ideal kit? 25/50bhp shots??

In this case pip probably has more recent experience, but I used to run 50bhp on my 8v with no problems at all

I can't speak directly about 8v xu pistons as i only ever used it on the 1.8 16v. I ran 100hp jets using the wizard of nos kit so thats a theoretical 50hp shot. I striped this engine and it shown no sign of any damage or increased wear. If you really wanted to do this, the first thing you should buy is trever langfields book on nitrous. It will answer so many questions that you have. If I had an 8 valve engine I would start at the 50 jets and work my way up if you felt you needed it. Be aware, the cost of going the direct port starts to put the price up a bit and makes it a little more complicated but if your running bike cabs or any sort of ITB's then you have no choice.

If you havn't got a kit yet, i have a Nitrous oxide systems system that i'm looking to sell, its a direct port wet fogger kit, which mounts into the inlet manifold with 4 nozzels. also has a large bottle think its 10lb but not 100% on that.

yes would be interested, please let me know a price. I was going to build one myself and try and get my head round NOS but if you a system ready to plug in and there is a serious cost saving I would be very interested.

Thanks

PM sent

NOS is not as bad as some people think, as long as its used correctly then theres no problems.

Basically, you can run it as it is upto 50-75 BHP Gain, after this point it worth retarding the ignition by 2 deg per 50 BHP

I never used it below 3000rpm. just be on the safe side.

I know of guys who run 350 BHP shots on stadard internal for dragging, is not advisable but they seem to get away with it.
