Running Without Lower Cambelt Cover

Recommended Posts

petesy71

hi, i'm currently running the car without a lower section of the cambelt cover,(circled in the pic).

timingcovers1.th.jpg

i'm concerned about this as i've read the topics about bent valves caused by no covers, but is it as much of an issue if i'm missing this one piece?

i cant get my hands on the part anywhere, so if it is a concern is there any way of getting one of these made up if someone had the exact dimensions?

thanks, pete.

Due to several moves and 'tinkering' I've not got any covers for the cambelt on my engine. Has been fine for a few years so have stopped worrying about it.

It is a road car though and I do have the plastic cover on the chassis rail between the engine and the wheel.

That was same for me too-Didnt run filters on my carbs either for 2 years. I think a lot is down to luck though tbh!!

I would be the first to winge if something had gotten into the carbs and the first to cry if a stone had landed in the cambelt area..
