How do I fit the dizzy from the original 1.9 gti on the Mi16 engine.

Took the cap off the mi engine and there is a black thingy(dont know the word in english) bolted on with 3 small bolts. How do I prepare the shaft to fit the Pug spares dizzy converter?

Thanks

Hi mate, You have to remove the rotor arm off the mi camshaft but careful with the 3 bolts as

they can round off sometimes.Iam using the 8v thermostat housing then 8v dizzy with adapter but should be same.

What you need to do then is get piston 1 at TDC and fit adapter on end of cam and make sure the rotor arm is pointing

towards no.1 on the dizzy cap otherwise the firing order will be way out.Once happy with that screw the bolt in to hold the

adapter onto cam and tighten then fit larger piece of adapter that the dizzy bolts upto and bolt to head and refit dizzy.Hope

that all makes sense.

Why use the 8v housing? Does it fit straight on?

Theres 2 types of adapter i got small collar type which goes over cam then use the 8v housing which the dizzy bolts too

or the type which i think you have which has a large piece which bolts to head then small adapter sits inside like the ones

listed on pugspares website. Both do same job.
