Fuel Filter And Ignition Coil

Recommended Posts

Basically as above. My car's got a misfire, and the 2 above parts could probably do with changing anyways.

Where is a good place to get them from and should I look for a particular brand?

Looked on Autofive, Eurocarparts and GSF, but undecided. I've used Autofive and GSF before, but don't know if there is anywhere cheaper for the same quality, if that makes sense.

Cheers

Andy

I have to say that I recently fitted a FRAM fuel filter to my miami before selling it and I was very pleased with the quality of it, superior to the Motaquip that I put on the cherry red a year or two back.

What's your local factor got in stock?

I wasn't sure on the quality of their parts, so I haven't tried them. I could I guess see what they have and price it up? Don't wanna walk in, get the prices for the parts and then walk out incase I waste their time.

I'm mainly concerned about getting the right parts to start with lol.

Think I should be sorted now.

Did a Google search and Unipart autoparts came up as the motor Factors in Scunny. Called 'em up and got the usual "no idea" woman parts advisor  Quick natter to her manager and he's ordered me in a coil and fuel filter for tomorrow.

Fuel filter is £8.03 +VAT

Ignition/HT coil is around £23.00 +VAT

Sounds about right I think, comparing it with Autofive, GSF and ECP.

No idea on the brands, but I'm not really bothered, serviceable items. If this doesn't cure my misfire, I'm burning the car out and doing an insurance job :ph34r:

I don't want to piss on your bonfire, but it's generally said that anything other than a Bosch amp can be a waste of money. A few people have fitted other amps, such as Intermotor, to try and solve a missfire problem, without luck. Then to find out that the missfire clears upon fitting a Bosch amp. You would think that any brand new amp should do the job, just with the possibility of a lower life span, but that doesn't seem to be the case from what some people have found.

Hope you do sort it. but if this doesn't work, then consider sourcing a Bosch amp just to test.

I have a Bosch ignition amp, I'm on about the cylindrical coil which is strapped onto the inner wing.

Sorry for the confusion.

Hahahaha, makes a change from moi.

Well picking the parts up today and will hopefully have Flix help me fit them (not tried these before) on Monday?Tuesday next week. If that doesn't solve the misfire, then there really is just the ign. amp. (which as above is currently a Bosch one) that could be at fault. ;)
