Mi Coil

I have a 1.9 mi running standared loom inlet from a BX. The coil is like the later type on the 8v engines i.e it has the 4 pin plug on top are they the same ? my plug only has 3 wires running to it.

1: nothing

2: 2.5mm yellow (live)

3: 1mm green

4: 1mm green

 

Pins 1&2 look to be on the sid of the coil with a + on it. 3&4 are on the side with a - on it.

From pin 2 to - i have 12v, when I go across 2&3 or 2&4 I get nothing.

please help

On the 1.9 gti's the coil plug is like this...(looking at the coil so the plug is facing you)

 

far left (red wire ) is the coil feed so should have 12v going to it

middle left (also red ) this goes to the ignition amp

middle right (yellow wire ) this also goes to the ignition amp but i think its earthed

far right, (thin blue wire) goes to the rev counter via brown multi plug (there is a seccond wire here that goes to the ECU/tachy relay)

the diagrams I have for the 405 looms don't have the pins numbered.

 

for ML4.1 (2 row?) 3A - ignition amp, 2A, Switched Live, 112, rev counter, 32 Injection supply relay

 

for M1.3 (3 row IIRC) 112 - rev counter wire, then 2A which is the switched Live, 3A is from the Ignition amplifier, and 2C which is earth through a suppressor

WP. I am running a 2 row ecu but the wiring sounds like its from a 3 row (loom is from a bx i think). I am saying pin 1 is at the front of the car as you look at it.

Usually a couple of inches down the cable from the plug, black thing about the size of a lego brick with a hole for a nut/bolt in the end

usually missing too, I don't see how it can be a 2 row ecu on a 3 row loom, the plugs are different....

I see what you mean WP I was just putting the BX thing out there. Well the car is running now cps/cas fault.

going to take the loom off the car when i get home from my engineering trip and unwrap and go through it all
