Cambelt Kits On Eurocarparts

Recommended Posts

Batfink

I need a cambelt kit for my 205 gti 1.6 and quite frankly am getting a little annoyed at the eurocarparts site.

In fact i'm going to say they do not list cambelts for this engine at all.

Can someone tell me how many teeth the correct belt should have as i'm going to look at the 1.9 ones and i think theres multiple options here too.

I would go somewhere else but I get a discount so cannot.....

It's the 113 tooth belt that you need, the same for any XU5 or XU9 8v engine before late 92 (ie all those with a spring-tensioner).

If you get no luck at Eurocarparts, pop down to Halfords of all places - they're £4 odd if you've got a trade card and they've always been available off the shelf for me too :D

Later engines with the escentric tensioner use a 114 tooth belt.

Mines an H reg, does that have the fancy tensioner?

I was looking at their kits with the tensioner included.

H reg will be the 113 tooth belt with the normal spring tensioner.

If you get really stuck, I have a brand new belt and tensioner in the garage...

I hope you'er right Kev, but it says 10/91-01/92 for the date range, which would be wrong. :D

Best of British :D You're right, though, it's not the clearest site in the world that one.

All 1.6's use the 113 tooth belt, Only the very late 1.9 use the 114 tooth belt and different Tensioner
