Oil In Inlet Tract

Recommended Posts

kilauea

I've stripped my engine down for a rebuild and noticed loads of oil in the throttle body and inlet manifold.

Even some in the rubber pipes. The engine has 100k on it and the head gasket had gone.

I found one previous thread that suggested it was the fault of the breather hose from the rocker cover - but it doesn't really tell me why so much would come through and how to stop it happening again after I put it back together.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

Have you got the mesh filter thing in the oil cap???????

Think this can affect the amount of oil goin into inlet if missing.

Other thing you can do is make up a breather system with a separator/catch-can set up.

actually no, don't recall seeing a mesh in there. I need a new filler pipe too as I noticed that's cracked and weeping oil.

Thanks for the tip.

Its just breathing oil, I wouldn't personally worry about it they just do it.

I doubt you'll see an 8v that doesn't do it. The only way to avoid it is a breather/catch tank set-up which isn’t really necessary.
