Wishbone Bushes

Recommended Posts

Grim.Badger

After slogging for what seemed like forever to get the old bushes out of a wishbone, I now have to get the new ones in. I can't imagine driving them in with a hammer is a good idea, but has anyone managed this without damaging them? If not I'll just have to pay for someone to press them in :D

BTW I'm never ever going to try and drive these things out again, PITA :)

ive always found a burner the best way to remove bushes.. burn them, and then slit the outside sleeve with a hacksaw , after which tap them out. ideally id always press a bush.

ditto, 5 mins with a blow torch on them and they just fall out, then cut the outer sleeve... just like djnuk said.

for standard ones, try heating the wishbone and cooling the bush, polyflex ones go straight in.

if not a press will put them in in ten minutes.

Try putting wishbone on a vice, then put a bolt through the middle of bush with washers on top and bottom of the bush then

put a nut on the screw bit at the bottom then just screw it round till it pushes the bush through like a clamp type action, hope this helps and that iv explained it clear enough...

Welshpug broke my vice putting mine, itin no longer clamps.

He did tidy up all my tools though, so made up for it nicely.
