Fuel Hose

Recommended Posts

dino20vt

Discovered a split hose, the one between the bottom right area of the bulkhead to the fuel pressure regulator on an alloy mi16 engine. The split hose was similar in construction to the vaccum hose on the servo ie rubber with material braiding.

Should this have been high pressure hose with the plastic in the middle?

Ideally id like to replace it with stainless braided hose, where can it be bought?

As both ends are pushed on then sealed with jubilee clips can a 90 degree bend at the fuel pressure regulator be somehow used as at the minute the temporary hose exits the FPR vertically and hits the bonnet.

Cheers.

Is the fuel at high pressure leaving the bulkhead to the FPR?

That's the low(er) pressure side of the fuel system. I don't know what the actual pressure in there is, but probably not a lot.

The original hoses have the plastic lining in them, but none of the replacement hose I've ever bought has, so I think it's just a different style of hose.

if its on injection, surely the whole fuel line will be under high pressure with the pump being in the tank.

also correct me if im wrong but a pressure regulator can only drop the pressure going out from whats coming in and not vise versa.

Its the return line,so is lower pressure.

The fuel regulater regulates the pressure in the fuel rail, then realeases the excess down the fuel return line ;)

So the line off the regulater is the lower pressure return

Hence the higher pressure feed line has a screw on fitting to both the rail and onto the metal fuel line on the bulkhead :D
