Xu10j2 Throttle Body To Xu9 Manifold Adapter

Recommended Posts

sub205

Currently working on this:

big alloy-blog does not cover the complete hole, but thats good because of the big speedocable-wheel, i'll put a small alloy-plate (2mm) between the manifold and the adapter to keep it closed.

looks good, what size is the throttle body? nice neat arrangement of the idle valve too :(

It looks great but forgive me, what advantage will it offer?

On the 2.0T engines the throttle bodies are only 50mm IIRC compared to the 57mm of the XU9. Am I missing something? I am running an XU9 engine on XU10 management and retaining the XU9 throttle body. Mine has a temp sensor tapped into it for the ECU and an adapter plate for the TPS (From an old Cavalier IIRC) with the TPS wires the other way round

its not an Turbo, its an normal XU10J2, so the throttle is 58mm!

i need this throttle because of the idle valve or i'll be stuck with the M1.3 from the XU9JAZ.

it looks very similar to the turbo throttle body, is that an internal or external measurement?

as I think that looks very similar to the RFY 16v throttle body, which is quite small compared to the RFS (which happens to use the same one as the V6...)

Interesting idea.

I have been thinking about various ideas for incorporating an idle valve and have been looking at modifiying the existing xu9 item, but hadnt thought about doing this. Now this has got me thinking!

I suppose the idle valve isnt the PWM type?

Which 306 /406 should I be looking for one of these then?

Is that a manifold pressure take off as well?

Nice. <_<

Mad.

that's a breather pipe AFAIK, the Map takeoff is on the manifold itself.

physically that looks identical to the XU10J2TE throttle body, though the size may differ, the 10J2 is the 8 valve 123 bhp 2.0 that's used in the 405+306+ZX+xantia etc.

not sure what PWM means, but its a 4 pin type with a plunger inside it, same as the GTi6 uses as well as many more recent engine management systems.

the idle controller uses a stepper motor, so you need a special controller for this. afaik only magnetti marelli uses this, but several after-market-ecus can incoporate an controller for steppers.

for the megasquirt there is such an extension i think.

alternatively, you can try to build an adaptor for using an iscv instead of the stepper. because the iscv simpy has a flap or a round cylinder to control, it shouldn't be impossible to do that.

about diametre: i'll measure that this evening, i only know the throttle itself is about 1mm wider than the standard xu9jaz one... i said 58 because someone said 57 ;-)

This looks good mate, I guess you are using the 205 inlet rather than the 306 because of bonnet clearance?

Will mean a bit of port matching will be needed but I know a few people have done this without too many problems.

Engine is in and running fine since about 5pm today.

I'm running the magneti marelli from the 306.

Only problem left is the idle ... the engine simply dies sometimes.

I cant read out errorcodes as with the old ecu... :-/
