24seven 104 Posted May 17, 2009 Am I ok to use the rear belt mounting point to fix the rear extension from a 4 point harness? I've a pair of harnesses that I'm going to use, one has a single extension from both shoulder straps and the other has 2. Can I just use the mounting point that the rear belts used to use for these? MrG 3 Posted May 18, 2009 I think it depends on the use. If its for competition use you may have an issue I think.
24seven 104 Posted May 18, 2009 just for road use & track days at the moment. Eventually I want to put a cage in there and will probably have a bar to wrap the belts round properly. As long as it's not a bit no-no on the road then I'll use the rear mounts for now.
timb1046 1 Posted May 19, 2009 it should be fine, a guy who i used to go to collage with used to get his through the MOT like that.
philfingers 5 Posted May 19, 2009 it's strong enough for std belts. The issue with harnesses is if the seats are a long way back and/or not low enough there is too much angle on the straps which in the event of a heavy frontal basically can crush the seat and the person in it. Which is the reason why for MSA rules it's not advisable. Tho cars do go through scrutineering and/or get log books without being correctly done
