What The F..........!

Recommended Posts

Good evening, I have just come back from the garage and the little Pug passed it's MOT with flying colours, needed a couple of brake light bulbs and that was that.

That good news is tempered by the recent discovery that the clock and OE radio/cassette display's no longer work - the orange back light is there but no figures display. In addition the radio no longer works but the cassette player does...????? WTF......!!!!!!

This has really fecked me right off as everything was working fine - only thing I can think of is I washed the car and wonder if somehow water has affected them.

Anyone got a fix or suggestion?

Check your pipes the connect to the heater matrix are not leaking, that what distroyed my last stereo.

Other that that just check your connections to the stereo and clock.

Does this mean both my radio and clock have just died at the same time (although the cassette still works) I'm convinced there's a connection, but I'm stumped. Anyone.........?

Dunno whether this is relevant or not but the clock in my XS is bonkers, nevers shows the right time, flickers on and off without warning somtimes just the backlight with no numbers. Its got a mind of its own.

Radio works fine but is an aftermarket headunit

my clock is screwed as well, think it's just good old French electronics - "They All Do That, Sir", as they say.... How could Pug bugger up a digital clock FFS?

all of the old timers on here will know what i mean when i mention

"peugeot time"

its when the clock wants to tell you what time it thinks it is...not what is actually is.

Think of it as your own little time machine...

I've said it before and I'll say it again - I can't believe the clock and just the radio's display's went a the same time - I'm just not having it. The cassette deck works but no radio the backlights work but no display from either clock or radio - bonkers........!!!!!

Going out to car and will probably get nowhere, but I have to try something, radio and the time are essential for me.... ;)

I have the same problem with my clock also. It only shows "peugeot time" sometimes but then put it down to the time adjust buttoms been stuck in. After i pulled them out it works fine again. Saying that when i first bought the car the backlight worked but showed the time as 88:88 for months until one day i disconnected my battery for another job and it kick started the clock back into life :)

Hold on.

Theres a 205 with a clock that doesnt do this ? !

Im going to rewire mine. Without the factory plug. See of it gets a better conenction. As mine works fine, as long as the connector is in a certain place. Then it will move and its gone again.

Well, well after a few weeks of living with no radio or clock, I've managed to sort the problem by kind of mistake really.

Just thought it was too weird/coincidental that both went at the same time, I now recall that when it was MOT'd the brake light bulbs were replaced and also the central locking and interior roof light stopped working too - turns out several fuses were the wrong amp-age including the fuses associated with the above problems..!!!

What kind of muppet swaps 15 amp fuses for 5 amp and 25 amp for 15 amp - WTF...!!! Some real genius must have owned my car in the past I guess..!! :D

Delighted it's all sorted now and can listen to the radio once again - :D

PS - Eurocarparts drive me nuts - went there today for air and fuel filters - they supplied me with the wrong type - both of them - FFS!!!:(

Indeed, the 5 amp one had blown, I was a bit surprised that the cassette player still worked - but there you go.!

Still can't believe some eejit would stick completely wrong fuses in - mental..!!
