A company caller Automec can supply a kit I believe, though personally I'd borrow a mates flaring kit and get cracking myself, quite satisfying knowing you did it yourself and saved well over half the cost.

(I'd also get some Mocal SS braided flexi lines off Miles)

what can Batfink supply though?

Well Kev here's your chance.

Of course Colin can make brake lines, and people seem to forget where I am; I can make f*ck all where I am!

Colin is perhaps fed up of making them, and suggested today steel ones in a kit and requested I did some research, hence the question.

So to make Colin's life easier, and IF you convince me Kev and the pricing's right, then you have a deal my friend. We're talking later today anyway.

The issue we may have though is getting the kit down to Colin's, but I'm sure you can offer a solution. :D

I can't wait to see Colin's pics. As I said to Colin earlier, "I've never had anything trick". :o

2 pics came in from Colin, BUT, (it seems my Swahili has struck again  ), the guys have mounted the fan as a 'push' rather than a 'pull'. It's actually a 'pull' fan; the blades are designed that way.

I'm sure it's just a breakdown in communication.

I love what they've done, but I've asked them to either reverse the fan blades and check they are still efficient or modify to place the fan the other side of the rad:

And the Gaz set up:

Still smiling though. :D

After popping down Collins on Thursday I can honestly say that the pics don’t do it justice.

Thanks Miles. Nico would 'dig' your daughter. Give them both nylon hammers and they'd be away with the fairies.

Aren't kids awesome? :)

Thanks for collecting the seats and tailgate Huw & for the comment.

The rear beam (for Steve@) and the subframe & struts/hubs (RobT) should be available soon, as will the 1.6 pepperpot wheels.

P.S. B) - The engine Miles is building is taking the place of the 2.2 16v in the red car currently sporting the beautiful TSW wheels. But I do so love to see pictures of engines, so keep 'em coming Miles.

With the LS1 coils, Satchell/Brown bodies and Emerald, this high comp 2.0 engine should still see ~185bhp. IT might be as nice as Dan Taylor's, just not in such a pretty car.

New Maniflow 4-2-1. Won't be either exhaust wrapped nor ceramic coated this time; hearing bad things about this approach:

A new fast-road clutch and some (*grasps groin and wets pants*) new throttle bodies:

The donor vehicle arrives tomorrow, (Evo I), and the 2.2 will duly be ripped out ready for its new ITBs with staged injectors and a new life.

Evo I will be back shortly with Speedlines and a 2.0 S16 on the original 2.2 ITBs. ;)

Coming along swiftly now Rich! Fantasticly (almost tiring!!) documented build thread too btw! Good read.

One question i must ask though, what's the idea with the 'triangulation' of the cage into the inner arch that stops short of the strut top, therefore not actually triangulating? Is it unfinished, will there be a traditional style lateral top bar also meeting the strut top from halfway up the A-pillar etc?

Theres probably an element of compromise as ultimately its a road car and theres no point in adding too much weight. I forget whether the chassis is getting a rollcage or not so maybe we need a summary again as theres a lot of posts to get through.

Its really moving fast. I'm jealous lol

Any other pics of the adaptors for the subframe + 405 hubs?

Why 306 wishbones? Are 205/309 not considered to give a more 'solid' fitment?

The 306 wishbones are hollow I believe and so lighter = less unsprung weight.

replaceable balljoints and ease of fabrication is another consideration

To attempt to answer a few recent questions/comments:

** 306 wishbones because of what's been said ^^^ above PLUS the fact that it's 406 hubs (not 405 as someone's just mentioned) which have the ball joint captive in the hub. The wishbone just supports it as a link-piece; it has no mechanical pivot like a 205/309 wishbone. The 406 ball-joint spigot is also more substantial (stronger), and that plus different OE track widths means Colin is making a special bracket for the wishbones.

** The car is NOT caged. It has gusseted and strengthened portions such as the box section inserted in the chassis rail Vee in the engine bay, a proper strut brace (Colin is not a fan of after market ones at all) and the tube inside the inner wing that Baz commented on. The OE inner wing beam (perhaps like most aftermarket strut braces) is rather a waste of time. Were this a full cage - and not a road orientated compromise - Baz is right that the tube would link differently. The top box section is sufficiently strong, so where my tube is is sufficient to add much more rigidity and complies with certain regulations from lower level motorsport concerning where cage tubing can go. It's an effective compromise basically.

VTS rack arrived today, and Colin's going to spend extra time getting it fitted correctly such that it compliments the intended use and other components, and in particular does not suffer from bump steer.

The staged injector set-up is likely to keep the torque curve up which means a gain in peak horsepower, and Sandy and I will be choosing Pico injectors shortly to go into the ITBs on a custom fuel rail mounted firing up into the air-flow. Even Magic (in Australia) has noted better results with outer injectors firing in this inverted fashion.

Next time you see it, it will be on its wheels, with a completely white (hardened) underbody sealant, and newly sprayed auto bonnet, St Tropez valance, grille and rear semi-T16 spoiler.

When I come home again in February, I will blitz the loom, engine swap and interior and should be able to fire it up. :)

Fairly mental project. I can only wonder and dream what it will be like to have a 205 that doesn't rattle and creak! Its is going to a proper gt!
