Leaking Again?

Hi everyone.

My gti is losing gearbox oil again!!!

 

It seems to happen when i've driven her for just five minutes.

 

I've had a good new engine and a good gearbox too. I have even had new driveshaft seals each side

and every thing was properly done by george off this forum.

 

If anyone can point me in the right way it would be good because I love her, lol.

Can you get some pictures from the back of the box?

By the looks of that its either leaking from the level plug, or the 5th gear cover. Both are easy to fix, just undo bolts, clean the surface and replace with a small amount of sealant, and fit the level plug with a new copper washer.

Hard to say from that angle really but if your re-sealing the endplate make sure you clean the surface with thinners or brake cleaner so as the sealer works right. [have seen things leak again when this isn't done]

Mine leaked from the end plate when I first got it. It was a real pain to get all of the old sealant off as it had gone completely solid.

 

The way it's disbursed on yours looks very similar to how mine was. Is there a streak of gearbox oil heading back under the floor too?
