Hello,

i'm currently driving an standard XU9JAZ in my 205 GTI.

The only things i've done are a metal-200cpsi-cat and a schrick camshaft.

tomorrow i'll get an XU10J2 Engine (2.0 8v 122PS).

i hope to get some more newtonmetres from this engine than from the old XU9, also i think this engine will run better at higher rpms.

can someone tell me what i can expect from this engine with the schrick camshaft, a tuned and flattened head?

the ecu and peripherals seem better to me, no airflowmetre, bigger throttle body, a completely newer engine management system.

someone done this swap before?

btw the engine has only ran 85000km in a grandfather-car (306 break), i think it'll be nearly as good as new.

i also will replace every sealing and bearing.

greetings, stephan

why use a heavier engine?

because the engine is cheap and has very low milleage.

also some people prefer the s16 over the mi16, because a better power curve.

i think this also applies to the 8v series.

There is a guy on here who has done this swap but he used the old 205 management and inlet manifold so its a little different.

You may find if you are planning on using the 306 setup that the plastic inlet manifold will hit the bonnet.

Other than that it will fit the same as the 1.9, even the exhaust manifold is shared with the 2.0.

Atari Boy

I have an XU10J2 engine in my 205, I am very happy with it.

Prior to this engine I had an under performing (105 bhp on a rolling road) XU9 1.9 engine. I have used the original cam, injectors, manifold and ECU. I had the head adjusted to match the manifold and lost the cat also.

I do not notice the extra weight. I sense that it is at least a good match for a healthy 1.9.

Do it and let me know what you think.
